TikTok is now in trouble as the US government’s accusation of a security threat has hit its parent company, ByteDance, from mainland China. Recently, it was reported that TikTok violated Google’s rules of secretly collecting data on Android users.
The Wall Street Journal reports that TikTok app records a different Mac address, each of which is unique. Can’t change or set a new number, TikTok’s parent company ByteDance can track all users. Even if the user has chosen to turn off and not allow it. The source, according to a recent app analysis, found that TikTok had included Mac addresses for at least 15 months, but it stopped collecting in its latest update last November.
A TikTok spokesperson told Business Insider: “We are committed to protecting the privacy and security of TikTok, we are constantly updating our app to provide improved security and current version of TikTok does not collect data.
